DAS is looking for a Junior Network Engineer for an IT Systems Operations, Maintenance, and Support effort.

General Responsibilities of Network Engineer (Junior)

The TO Contractor personnel shall, in cooperation with other SHA network technicians, work with SHAstaff and IT liaisons supporting the SHA infrastructure, end user needs and Tier 1 service desk. Thisincludes the following tasks:

1. Assist the network staff with daily management of servers, create and manage user accounts, access to files, rights to groups, etc.
2. Assist in monitoring the SHA network Maximo queue, triage and resolve service requestsassigned to the queue. Document resolutions in the service request worklog.
3. Attend staff meetings as well as other meetings as required. Document knowledge base aswell as create, update, and maintain documentation for SHA OIT.
4. Participate in the planning and execution of infrastructure development, including patching,expansion, and enhancement.
5. Participate in training sessions, team meetings and meetings with others within SHA asrequired.
6. Ensure SHA OITs Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), policies and procedures are followed.
7. Follow On-Call duties as part of the On-Call rotation:

• • One (1) week every seven (7) weeks is a 24-hour day. While On-Call during business hours, are required to answer the On-Call phone as well as respond to On-Call emails.
  • After hours, phone calls to On-Call are to be answered immediately and emails responded to (if necessary) by the next morning.
  • During non-business hours, the Network On-Call support person will be no more than 1 hours drive from Headquarters at all times during his/her assigned week (i.e. 24 x 7 availability) to respond to critical network problems or problems affecting mission critical systems.
  • Should MDOT Network Operations Center (NOC) open a conference bridge, the On-Call person should attend that bridge within 15 minutes and communicate status using the OIT Management email group.

Preferred Experience

At least three (3) years of experience in the following technical areas:

1. Senior level experience working in a network and IT systems environment, including protocols (TCP/IP), equipment and services (DNS).
2. Senior level experience with Microsoft Windows server family, including all of Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016, Microsoft file and print services, windows terminal server, server security, including group policy.
3. Senior level experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange online and Microsoft Outlook client technologies, including Office 365.
4. Senior level experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) and switch architecture, including working with volumes/partitions, disk sets, arrays, RAID storage pools and hardware.
5. Virtualization technology, including use of product suites from VMWare, Commvault, Sans and NetApp.
6. Server performance monitoring and utilization of associated tools, managing block-level backup and associated backup/recovery methods.
7. Creating, updating, and maintaining network and IT system policies, procedures, and related documentation.
