Job Description

The Director of Finance and Accounting plays a key leadership role in guiding the company’s financial operations and strategy. This position oversees all accounting functions, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, robust internal controls, and compliance with GAAP. As a senior leader, the Controller drives continuous improvement in financial processes, mitigates risk, and provides strategic insights to support executive decision-making and organizational growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all core accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end close
• Oversee revenue recognition, reviewing contract terms to ensure proper treatment and compliance
• Partner cross-functionally on contract reviews to evaluate financial terms and ensure alignment with accounting and revenue policy
• Own the preparation and presentation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Lead sales commission calculations, accruals, and reporting in line with company policy and accounting standards
• Coordinate the annual audit and manage relationships with external auditors.
• Ensure tax compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws
• Prepare financial analysis to support strategic planning.
• Manage all bank relationships
• Develop and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to support scale and compliance.
• Mentor and grow the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Oversee financial system improvements, tools and workflows for greater efficiency and automation.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Support risk management practices, including working with external insurance providers
• Maintain key external relationships (e.g., banking, legal counsel)
• Lead special projects to improve financial operations and organizational performance

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in enterprise business financial planning, or equivalent experience directly to the specified duties and responsibilities
• Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company or a technology-driven environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting processes.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Intacct)
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
