Supporting Gaza is a Collective Responsibility Requiring Practical Steps at All Levels
President Erdoğan Sends Video Message to the World Humanitarian Summit: Gaza The Next Day
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a video message to participants at the World Humanitarian Summit titled “Gaza The Day After” held in Istanbul. In his address, President Erdoğan expressed his gratitude for the invitation and conveyed his hopes that the summit would achieve its objectives in supporting the people of Gaza and alleviating their suffering.
In his message, President Erdoğan stated:
“I extend my heartfelt thanks for your kind invitation and wish for the success of the World Humanitarian Summit on Gaza The Next Day. I pray that this summit brings blessings and positive outcomes not only for our brothers and sisters in Gaza but also for all oppressed peoples and the wider Islamic world. I warmly welcome all our esteemed guests who have honored us with their presence from across the Islamic world. I also sincerely congratulate the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation and Al-Khair Foundation for their leadership in organizing this crucial summit aimed at rebuilding and rehabilitating Gaza.”
President Erdoğan emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among Islamic nations, particularly in light of the atrocities committed in Gaza and occupied Palestinian territories since October 7, 2023. He said:
“The massacres and crimes we have witnessed in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories have once again underscored the critical need for solidarity and collective action among Islamic nations. Nearly 50,000 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children, have been martyred in horrific attacks targeting civilians. Over 100,000 innocent Palestinians have been injured in direct bombings, and the death toll in Lebanon has exceeded 3,500. Places of worship, schools, hospitals, and civilian infrastructure have all been targeted in these brutal assaults.”
“Turkey Among the Leading Supporters of Palestine”
President Erdoğan highlighted Turkey’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people, stating:
“Turkey stands in full solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters. Over the past year, we have extended more than 86,000 tons of aid to Gaza, making us one of the leading supporters of Palestine. Additionally, we have delivered over 1,300 tons of aid to our brothers and sisters in Lebanon. We continue our diplomatic efforts to ensure a united Islamic stance against the atrocities in Gaza.”
President Erdoğan concluded his message by reaffirming Turkey’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause until the end of occupation and the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He expressed confidence that the outcomes of this summit would further bolster these efforts and extended his gratitude to all participants for their contributions.
